Reddit scan:Engineering Reddit! So, I'm kind of lost right now and was hoping to get some input as to what I might do to get on track. Background about me:Currently, I've got my BS in physics. My undergrad didn't have an engineering program, and I was at the time married to someone in the military, so physics was about the closest thing I could manage. I finished with a 3.86 GPA and I've done 3 years of research and presentations with awards at national conferences. I also have military experience as an aircraft mechanic and previously held a TS/SCI clearance which expired in 2013/2014.I was recently a TA for the electronics courses at a graduate school and have also worked in their makerspace as a trainer for the wood/metal shop as well as for the 3d printers, laser and vinyl cutters. This time at the graduate school has just come to a close. I had applied to an engineering PhD program - had been invited to check out the campus in a formal setting. There was no actual interview process, however it seems that they rejected me anyways - after politely asking for how I might've improved my candidacy, I was met with no reply. I know, I messed up only applying for the one, but from the rapport I built with a professor there combined with my LoC's being alumni and my own background I was told I was essentially in. Doesn't matter at this point though.I want to work in engineering. Specifically either robotics/mechatronics or space/aeronautics. I like to build and design things - my electronics courses in undergrad were phenomenal and getting to be a part of the process of design, fabrication, coding, etc. was just the best time I've had.Since learning my contract with the university would be ending, I've been sending out resumes to companies in search of something that fits my interests. However, I don't have an EIT/FE/etc. type certification and I'm not comfortable with AutoCad/Revit/etc. to put it on my resume just yet. This, understandably, puts me at a significant disadvantage.Bills need to be paid, and I'm feeling like I'm lost and drowning. What can/should I be doing? http://ift.tt/2rdspp7 by Towson Makerspace
