Reddit scan:Kenmore is hosting a Better Block Sept 1-2. Here's a Ted Talk explaining what that is. This video is less interesting visually to watch, but it's the same guy talking at Rialto Theater on Kenmore Blvd about what we plan to do for Kenmore's event.Anyways, as part of the event we'll be building temporary outdoor furniture/fixtures for the sidewalks and shop fronts. BetterBlock.org has open source CNC designs/plans for creating these things out of 3/4" plywood. Jason mentioned that the Akron Library has a machine, but it looks like it's just a 3D printer on the website. I run a program for young teen guys and have decided building the furniture would be a great way for them to learn a skill and participate in a community event. But I know very little about operating a CNC machine nor do I have any connections in terms of access to one. Any advice would help.edit: Additionally the group will be trying to source materials (plywood and other landscaping type materials), as well as looking for potential musical/performance acts, pop up shops to run temporary businesses or educational/hands on workshops. If something of that nature is something you can help with there are forms you can submit on the Kenmore Better Block website. http://ift.tt/2ulaQqI by Towson Makerspace
