BetterBlock.org has open source CNC designs/plans for creating these things out of 3/4" plywood. Jason mentioned that the Akron Library has a machine, but it looks like it's just a 3D printer on the website. I run a program for young teen guys and have decided building the furniture would be a great way for them to learn a skill and participate in a community event. But I know very little about operating a CNC machine nor do I have any connections in terms of access to one. Reddit scan:It's a strong statement but an honest question. I'm an engineer, and struggled to get there. I've never been a particularly good student. My life in college was far more demanding than it is now or was when I was working unskilled part-time jobs. But, for all its vices, the pseudo-capitalistic society we live in provided me with strong a strong incentive to finish my degree, it was the best way for me to provide a reasonable quality of life should I ever have a family. I don’t particularly care if I’m ever rich, I just want to have enough. In a more needs-based economy, I’m not sure that people like myself would have the necessary motivation to make the best of ourselves. If there was an easier path to comfort, I believe I would have taken it. That might be selfish, but I’m just being honest. I’d still be tinkering in my garage (or some public makerspace or whatever) if I had the opportunity, but I wouldn’t have developed the necessary skills to perform all the

We went through the process of becoming a 501(c)3, we obtained a workspace, set up a website, recruited members, etc. and all went find until Christmas of 2015 when we had a break-in and everything was stolen. Since then I really haven't had the time to devote and membership has been dwindling. In May we worked out an exit arrangement with the larger organization that we were renting space from (another NFP) and we've moved our remaining property to another location.The remaining members (I officially quit this month) want to change focus and start a tool library, which is fine, except that that's not what we told the IRS or the State we were doing when we set up the NFP organization.
