Reddit scan:GOAL: Buy or build a computer that will be relatively future proof (~5 yrs) and provide access to quality software that users can't afford at home. This computer will be publicly available in the library's Makerspace.USES: *Photo editing (Photoshop) *Video editing *Music recording/creation/editing *Digital art *Programming *3D Printing (in the future) *Virtual Reality (in the future)INFO: My colleague wants to buy an iMac, in part because it comes with Garageband and iMovie and because he likes Apple. Can y'all help me convince him that this is a bad move? I know we'll have more options for software and future hardware upgrades if we build our own PC, even if we spend a little more up front (mostly due to peripherals) than the bare minimum iMac.Thanks for your help! http://ift.tt/2rZspJf by Towson Makerspace
